About Sarah K

My main insturments are the strings; piano, Violin, guitar.

I absoluetly love all genres of music.

I have always enjoyed teaching. After earning my undergraduate degree from Furman University and Graduate from Florida State Music school, I became a private instructor of piano/piano in my graduate degree at Florida State. I have taught at different local schools part-time, and have experieced many levels of talent and disicpline. One of my favorite parts o being a teacher is writing music for my students. Although, I do not hold an education degree in composition, I have devoted significant time to teaching myself piano/guitar/composition.

I have both an undergraduate and graduate degree in Music. I have been performing fairly competitevely in the classical arena since high school. I have participated in 3 solos with orchestra, multiple orchestra concerts in the professional arena, and weddings gigs. I enjoy teaching all genres of music and am always attempting to expand my repertoire. I also have had about 10 -12 years experiece teaching children and adolecencts.

About the lesson

Absolutely first and foremost is discovering the musical interests and playing levels of my students. Fairly strict schedules can be very useful, but flexibility is welcome.

I formed Manatee Strings after my graduate degree, I had taught all ages from four years old to 70. With my studio, hosted 3 orchestra music events in which we gave orchestra concerts/lesssons/coaching. Most of my students I have taught have been at the beginner to intermediate levels. As I have worked my way into the professional world, I do feel as though I am beginning to coach the upper level students.

Make sure you have some time to practice.

I participated in the Atlantic Music Festival in Waterville, Maine. I participated in 6 concerts during a 1 month span. I felt the vibrancy and professionalism of classical music concertizing.
