About NA
I'm a second year music student at Umass Lowell, currently pursuing a degree in Music Education. I've been playing guitar for 7 years, and saxophone for 10 years. My goal is to provide students the tools they need in order to become more capable in whichever facet of music making they're interested in, whether that be songwriting, technical ability, or just the fundamentals of the instrument.
I have 7 years of guitar experience under my belt, 2 of which have been in college learning to teach music.

The first step would be to guage where a student is at, before trying to move forward with any material that might be too advanced or too familiar for them. Once I know where they're at, I'd like to ask where they want to go. If they want to write songs, move to chord progressions and melodic composition. If they want technical ability, give them daily practice exercises for finger independence and speed.
Understand what you need, how to communicate that to an instructor, and who would be able to deliver that to you. If you want to learn how to play jazz, then a classical nylon string guitarist can't help you all that much, no matter how good they are. I'm significantly more fluent when it comes to rock, blues, and some jazz than I am with classical guitar or heavy metal, so fingerpicking and sweep picking wouldn't be things I could give too much help with.
