About Helen

We are the only music school in town that offers music for all ages! From baby, toddler, and preschool Music & Motion classes, to pre-instrument classes for 5-7 yr. olds, to beginning piano classes for 7-9 yr. olds, to private lessons for ages 8 to adult, we have something for everyone. We offer private lessons in piano, voice, guitar, drums, violin, and more! Our teachers have a passion for music, and for teaching!

I love watching children grow - physically, socially, and musically! And my private students give me great joy when they master a skill that was really hard for them!

I love it when we can connect families with common interests, who sometimes go on to be lifelong friends!

I started teaching when my college professor set up beginner lessons for me to teach. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, so this was fulfilling a dream!

I have a B.S. in music education, as well as courses in special education. I am also fully trained as a Musikgarten teacher. Our teachers have college degrees and/or professional performance experience. But most importantly, we LOVE to teach music!

About the lesson

When a new student comes to our studio, we have them fill out a new student questionnaire, so we can get to know them. We ask what kinds of music they like, when their 6 month and 12 month goals are, and why they are starting lessons. We take that information and incorporate it into the lessons, along with basic skills that all students need.

I have worked with all different kinds of students, from babies to young school age through my Musikgarten classes, and elementary age through older adults in private lessons. I have worked with a number of special needs students through the years as well.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Be sure you are ready to commit to the consistent practice that is required to learn to play an instrument. We'll make your lessons fit your needs, but you need to be prepared to do your part. Parents, this usually means supervising practice for students younger than about 10.
