About Richard

I really love the fun that music can be for both me teaching and my students when they are having fun

I like when a students really enjoys music and it can become part of their life in a positive way.

I have been teaching guitar for about 20 years now and can't imagine doing anything else.

Degree in music studies

Played professionally for about 23 years.

I also have a child of my own and understand the patience needed and that I try to make everything as fun and interesting as I can for both children and adults.

After high school I attended college for music. During that time I taught privately part time. After graduating I considered going into teaching in public schools but with limited budgets, teaching to a test mentality and the politics that school district teachers deal with it simply wasn't for me. I really enjoy one on one because of how individualized instruction works. In other words I tailor my lessons to what each child or adult needs and move at their pace. I also can make lessons fun by playing to what THEY want to play not a school district mandated lesson plan.

I have been teaching for 20 years and have played professionally for 23 years. I have a degree in music studies.

About the lesson

We learn chords, scales and how to read tablature and music based off of the current song that we are working on.

Children and adults of all ages. I have taught little rockstars all the way to children with learning difficulties. If the child or adult wants to learn guitar and is old enough for the fine motor skills needs to do it, usually about 8 years old, then it usually is a blast for us both

Find a guitar teacher wants to teach as much as play. A lot of times musicians teach simply to fill in the gaps of bills. I teach because I want to teach AND play out and about.
