About Sunshine

My teaching approach: My style of teaching is geared toward the needs and desires of each individual student. I have a very eclectic music background having studied classical, jazz and contemporary guitar, I started on piano at age six. I also studied voice at the University of N. Florida and I'm currently working on a music degree at Rowan as well as perfomring full time. I am easy to get along with and aim to make lessons a fun experience and give my students practical lessons using music they enjoy that will at the same time re-enforcing new skills and building confidence. My influences are: Sting, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Dave Matthews, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, My guitar lessons take place in: Musically Speaking Studios in Blackwood. Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours: mon or tues. I am flexible, I try to schedule students in blocks after school Mon/Tues/Wed but I can usually find something that works for everyone. Guitar Techniques: Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Open tuning, Fingerstyle, Vocal Accompaniment, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Song Writing, Guidance In Equipment Selection Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: I will ask them about their music background and if they are new to playing we will go over the instrument and proper names of the parts of the guitar and the strings, posture, etc. We will talk about what types of music the student is interested in learning and what motivated them to want to play the guitar. My goal is always to inspire as well. A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: I like to start each lesson with a warm up exercise that they can practice at home to build speed and dexterity. We go over the previous week and will build on it. Then I like to introduce one scale a week to incorporate into practice. The third and most fun part is learning new chords and licks by breaking down songs they want to learn. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: Anyone with a guitar and a desire to learn

I have been studying music since I was six years old privately and at the University level.
