About Dustin
Always wanted to learn guitar? I can have you playing your FIRST song in just ONE lesson! I've been teaching for over 10 years and my specialty is working with people playing for the first time. Call me today, play a song tomorrow!
The reason I LOVE teaching guitar is watching the confidence in my students grow not just in their guitar playing but in themselves. Learning an instrument is hard work but the rewards you attain are SO worth it. Also, nothing is better then hearing a song on the radio and going "Hey! I can PLAY that song!"
I was hired by Key To Joy back in 2005 and would travel to various schools conducting lessons but then in 2009 I started my own business and have been teaching ever since.
Despite playing for over 20 years, I've been teaching privately as well as schools all over Los Angeles and was the main guitar instructor for Key To Joy for a few years

My process is first to get an idea of where they are as a guitar player. Whether theyve been playing for a few years or touching a guitar for the very first time. Then I'm able to create a criteria based around them. I also get to know them by asking these questions:
-If you woke up tomorrow and could play the guitar, what are the first five songs you would play?
-Why do you want to play guitar?
-Who are some of your favorite bands?
Believe it or not, I can learn a lot about the individual by their answers to these questions. I then zero in on one of their favorite songs and use that as a goal to strive towards.
All types. My main area is working with kids but adults are fun to work with too though more challenging! For some reason, kids are WAY better at handling screwing up a lot. lol
Hire a teacher that finds a way to make learning FUN! Guitar can be frustrating at times so you need a teacher who has your back and is there with you to help you through it.
One of my long time students got to play at The ROXY in Hollywood. Seeing your student who you taught to play Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star onstage shredding the Purple Haze solo was a special moment for me.

Details
My prices are basically a dollar a minute plus $5 for gas. I recommend weekly 45 min sessions but can work with any schedule. 30 minutes, I find isnt enough time to review the last lesson and make sure they comprehend the next lesson going into that week.
