About Heath

My teaching approach: Lessons are designed for beginner to intermediate guitarists. I teach both acoustic and electric styles which include Blues, Folk, Rock and Roll, Bluegrass, Jazz and Classical. Learn how to play by ear and by reading music. Learn how to improvise. Learn how to play guitar and sing at the same time. Learn acoustic finger picking technique. Learn how to practice effectively and efficiently. Lessons are offered at my home studio. I am an Advanced Classically trained guitarist My influences are: John Willliams, Jimmy Page, George Harrison My guitar lessons take place in: The teacher's studio Guitar Lessons with me take place in the following areas: Home Studio and Lafayette college: Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Fingerstyle, Vocal Accompaniment, Performance, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: I will aks questions about their musical background A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: Warm up, technique, performance The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: Attentive and enthusiastic

I had to make money while in college so I reached out to professors about taking on some of their lessons they could not fit into scheduling.

20 years of teaching individual lessons, college courses, and grade shool.

About the lesson

I like to find out about the student. Their background, musical experiences and if they have any thing to perform on the instrument. I build up all of my students from ground up starting with simply how to hold the instrument

Ages 4 to 68 they come from all backgrounds. The strangest coincidence is having 3 airline pilots at one time period

Talk to the teacher before you start. You can learn a lot about someone simply by hearing what questions they have for you.

I hold a performance class once a month, free to attend, and someone showed up with 2 young children, a 4 year old guitarist and 10 year old cello player who performed for the regulars. It was an amazing treat.

A 45 minute introduction lesson is charged at the same rate as the ongoing 30 minute time.

Lessons are $25/half hour charged as a monthly fee of $100.
