About Marc

I started by playing in clubs and venues around Louisville. At one point I worked in a corrrectional/treament high school as a school social worker. Besides working as a counselor I volunteered teaching small groups guitar. I also volunteered teaching guitar at the elementary and middle school level. I am now retired and would like to continue to pass on my love of guitar.

Professionally I am a retired teacher. I have been a school administrator and a social worker as well. I am a published songwriter. At one time i played music professionally throughout the Kentuckiana area. I have taught at risk students guitar to help with students anger management, attention and theraputic needs.

About the lesson

First and foremost it needs to be fun. In the past I have taught 1:1 or small groups of novice guitar players ranging in ages from 6-14. I believe that the instructer needs to be flexible and help the guitarist learn songs that are relivant to the student. I have over 30 years experience of playing guitar. I can provide a loaner guitar if you are just getting started. I can travel in the Louisville area

I have worked with a very diverse background of of students:

*high school students who were involved in the juvinile justice system

*at-risk middle school students

*elementary students

*young adults with diagnosed mental illness

Find someone who has a passion for music and the background and experience that can enhance the learning experience

I am a Boy Scout leader for impoverished youth. Each year i coordinate funding and resources and take my boys to summer camp

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out

Mr. Harding told me how to play Atari I had no clue how to play guitar and now because of him I can play wagon wheel, Sweet home Alabama and smoke on the water.
