About Travis
I believe in a more informal version of learning. I do teach all fundamentals needed to play guitar, but I just do it in a different way. Rather than using tons and tons of sheets of music or tablature, I show my students how to truely see and hear their music in shapes and colors. "I don't teach math, I teach music." - Travis Lermusiaux
I love the feeling of knowing I am giving someone a gift that can bring almost infinite joy to them. Giving someone the ability to express themselves through music is a beautiful thing.
I started teaching when I was in my young teen years with friends and family. When I started high school I got a little more into it. By the time I got to college I was selling lessons and paying for food! During my college years is when I earned my degree in Business Administration to better understand how to run my business!
My father has been playing music for 50 years and taught me the fundamentals of music. After that, when I was 13 I took more formal lessons to sharpen my skills. At the age of 19 I made the switch to brutal self-teaching. There is where I learned the most about music I could ever learn. With over 16 years of playing under me, I can say with full confidence that I am able to put all my knowledge to good use!

Based on age and understanding of music is where I will base my teaching. If they are younger and have no knowledge of music, I start with fundamentals. If they already know some guitar and want to get better, I go to the next level and work on scales, shapes, and improvising.
I have worked with brand new children wanting to learn guitar, teens wanting to learn Nirvana and Metallica, and older folks needing a new hobby after retirement. I can work with everyone because I am patient and love to teach what I know!
Take any free intro lessons you can to find the best fit for a teacher. Finding someone you can relate to and give you great direction is the most important. If you want more formal teachers or more relaxed teachers, that's fine, just do what makes you comfortable!
I once taught an intro lesson at a Guitar Center to a four-year-old girl. She picked up the guitar faster than most kids her age and she was so excited to learn, it made me feel really good that I could give her that.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What do I hope to achieve in taking these lessons?
How much time do I have to commit to this?
How serious am I about learning guitar?
Am I ready to have fun!?

I've wanted to learn to play the guitar forever and finally decided to learn from Travis. He's really patient, he's very knowledgeable, and he explains things in a way I can understand. He's great at what he does and I recommend him highly!

Details
I have a sliding scale that varies.
Intro lessons are always free (with restrictions)
If it is a one-time lesson with no repeating lesson - $40
Sold in a pack of four per month - $100
Sold in 6-month packages - $75/ month (save up to $500!)
At the end of a 6-month package with a brand new student learning guitar, I would expect them to know basic notation, basic chords, and have started to work on their timing as well. And know a couple songs.
Guitar is not a race, it's a journey!
