About Daniel

Do you want to learn how to make your playing really stand out? My easy to understand method will teach you the basics of the neck so you can add vibrant color to your chords and the single note melody lines to compliment them. I'll also teach you how to get your left and right hands working together so that it all comes together when you're playing. Got a song you want to learn? We can analyze it together to see what makes it tick.

I am an accomplished player and have been playing for many years both on stage and in the studio. I come from a musical family and have loved music for as long as I remember. My mother tells me that I used to hum myself to sleep when I was a baby.

My specialties are blues, folk and American jazz standards. I can help you learn how to make your musical ideas a reality.

Beginners to advanced.

I really enjoy interacting with people regardless of their level of experience. It's very rewarding to me when someone learns something from me. I enjoy communicating new material to students, seeing them expand their knowledge and putting that knowledge into practice.

I have a clear, easy to understand method for teaching guitar and written materials to support it. I really enjoy the "Aha" moment when someone masters something new.

I have studied privately with some excellent teachers over the years.

About the lesson

First, I familiarize myself with the student's goals and the types of music she or he wants to learn. From there we will work on the skills the student needs to achieve those goals. I l also show students new approaches to the instrument to advance their knowledge of different styles and techniques. I like to teach students more about what they can use on the neck and right hand techniques to expand their musical horizons.

My advice is to follow your musical heart. If you have a passion for music and the guitar then let that guide you. It is a rewarding journey. Practicing is the only way to achieve your goals and I will teach you the easy to understand method to make you a better player.

My wife and I are a musical duo called Dead End Beverly. We recently completed recording our second album, Out of the Attic at the Roots Cellar Recording Studio in Cold Spring, NY. It was a lot of work and very rewarding. The album will be out soon.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should consider what they want to achieve. Beginners might have difficulty answering this question but it's great if the student wants just to get started on the instrument. Intermediate and more advanced players should think about their next step. What is the next level of ability they want to achieve? What technique do they think they need to get there?

Details

Within 10 miles from Cold Spring, I charge $30 for a 30 minute lesson and $40 for a 45 minute lesson. Beyond that distance, I charge an additional $5 per lesson.
