About James

Hello and thank you for your interest in this beautiful instrument.

I've been teaching for a little over a decade now and I enjoy it more now than ever. I love meeting new students because with each person comes a unique personality and learning style. I try to teach each student according to their respective proclivities while helping them to overcome their weaknesses as well. I try to create a fun environment to learn in, provide students with what they're looking for, and also throw in some nice surprises along the way.

The eventual goal is to teach a student how to teach themselves. I've found if you mold a musician you're making someone who's interest in music will persevere, always taking a next step, and always finding more interesting and challenging questions.

I live in Northside(45223) and have a warm and spacious studio. There is an abundance of parking available so no run around necessary.

About the lesson

I am always happy to set up an initial consultation with any new student free of charge. There, or in the first few lessons, I get to know who they are as people, where their desire to learn to play music comes from, and what their goals are as prospective students. The most enjoyable part of this work for me is getting to know each student's particular learning style and then designing a curriculum that best suits their strengths, weaknesses, and goals. Together we travel through the experience of becoming a musician. It's really an exciting time to see a student's ability at an instrument slowly unfurl itself and to see their surprise at their own success. I love it.

I work with students of all ages and ability levels. I currently work with children, college students, as well as retirees who are looking to begin something new. All are welcome.

Make sure to find a teacher who wants to help you become musically literate and to understand how music works. As time goes on, if this knowledge base increases, you'll find more and more interesting characteristics within the music you're studying. With this interest being continually renewed the joy of discovery will remain a part of your study.
