About Aaron

My priority is to find out what each individual student's music goals are and tailor our lessons experience around acheiving those goals.

For my youngest students, I enjoy seeing the smiles that music brings and I love watching the "light bulb" turn on when a student gets a concept or nails a piece for the first time.

For my adult students, I love seeing their desire to continue learning at every stage of life. Their thirst for knowledge and openness to new ideas is a constant inspiration to me!

I taught my first guitar lessons when I was still in high school and have continued to teach my entire adult life.

I have a degree in music performance (emphasis in jazz guitar from Northern Illinois University). I perform regularly with many different groups around the Chicago area in a wide range of styles. I also continue to keep up my own daily practicing routine and I'm always trying to add new material to my repertoire and keep up on new music that's happening. I believe that you should never stop learning!

About the lesson

When I meet a new student for the first time, I try to gauge what their goals are and find out about their previous musical experience. I also try to get a feel for what that student's strengths are that will help them achieve their personal goals on their instrument!

Recently, I began working with a group of 3 year old ukulele students at "Diversey Day Care" in Chicago. It has been a blast watching kids develop skills on their instruments and having an awesome time doing it!

I work with a huge age range of students including many adults who love music and simply want to carve some time out in their week to keep their passion going. I've also worked to prepare students for professional music careers, college auditions, etc.

Take a one-off trial lesson - sometimes the right teacher just clicks with a student and has a teaching style that is effective, challenging and rewarding.

Remember that progress happens slowly at first, so be patient and most importantly have fun!!

As the music school manager of the "Rock House Music School" in Glenview, I recently connected with various community organizations in the Northwest burbs to find opportunities outside of our music school to get our kids to perform. Watching students perform - - and even better yet, as a band - - is so rewarding and exciting!
