About Makayla
Hi there! My name is Makayla or Mak for short :) I am from Denver, Colorado, and have been playing guitar since I was a freshman in high school. I always had such a huge passion for the arts (especially music) for as long as I can remember. I have attended and taught lessons at School of Rock back home in Colorado and have gigged all around Colorado, New Mexico, Massachusetts, and New York. I have played at venues such as Red Rocks, Brighton Music Hall, The Bowery Ballroom, etc. I am also currently studying songwriting at Berklee College of Music! I love sharing my passion and seeing all kinds of musicians grow and become more comfortable not only within their musicianship, but also within themselves. I think that connecting with my student and making them feel comfortable and welcome is a very important first step. I love getting to know my students. I will also ask if they have any prior experience with guitar, songwriting, or music in general and will start to map out an appropriate lesson plan based on the student's response.
