About Scott

I have been a professional guitarist performing for over 50 years. I hold a BA degree in music and have an MA in Education from Stanford University. I have not been taking any music students for many years however have taught extensively through my career, and am now accepting students on a limited basis. Music is a voice of the soul, and while I am highly versed technically, I seek to bring students in connection with that voice, and to facilitate their technique to allow them to express themselves and speak through music.

Music is my life, composing and performing are a central forms of communication I use to relate to others. To be able to share this with others and help facilitate that voice in others is a great joy.

I became a professional educator25 years ago and prior to that taught guitar lessons privately.

I have a BA in music, an MA in education, have worked extensively in recording studios, performed in major concerts, and have worked in public schools teaching for nearly 25 years.

About the lesson

Have a discussion, find out what the student wants, what they think they want, what the role of music is in their life, experience, etc. I customize a curricular plan for individual student needs/interests.

Ages 5-70

Creativity and flexibility are essential on the part of a teacher; find a teacher who really seeks to understand you, vs. pontificating about their platform.
