About Julian

Hi! My name is Julian Acosta. I am based out of Austin, Texas. I started teaching in college to help pay my bills then ended up becoming a full time artist that loves to teach as well.

I encourage you to view my site as a professional vetting tool rather than as an artist. I think it’s important to understand different aspects of music so I can best help you or our student connect with music and bring the most fun out of the experience.

I was taught by Tom Barrera in San Antonio a Jazz and Gospel piano player in 2008. He told me by teaching I could also learn. I decided to pick up my first student Isabella, teaching her became a pleasure and when you see people click with the information to the music, it's pretty rewarding.

Studied music at the University of Texas and have taught ukulele, piano, guitar and voice since 2009

About the lesson

I like to ask my students/learners what it is that they extacly hope to accomplish. This gives me a rounded perspective on how to go about achieving their goals the best. There are so many different styles to teaching and I want to make sure they are confident while learning new material.

I've worked with all types of people. Some just want to be able to play a song to thier wife. Some want to learn how to get ready to play live just so they can say they did, as a life goal. Some want to learn to create music and start a career. Some already have a career and are professional; it's great to have a teacher because they keep you disciplined.

I got to see my last student Jordan finally understand how scales and music theory come together. When he first got it, he came back and had written a song. It was really nice to see him play. Now we're preparing for a live performance.
