About Marli

Hi there! My name is Marli, and I:

~ play guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, harp, piano and kalimba

~ am a singer-songwriter, audio producer and mix engineer who uses Logic Pro X, Ableton Live 10 Suite (& I also teach with Garageband since it is a practical program for beginners)

~ have a double Bachelor's Degree in Music and Public Relations from Hofstra University

~ have a studio space in Astoria and I have a home lesson space in Huntington

~ am fluent in Spanish (puedo enseñar leciones en Español)

~ have 8 years of experience with teaching instruments and singing

(concealed information)

I enjoy being able to inspire other with what I love to do most while building a community that is focused on music :)

I began teaching guitar lessons to my cousin when I was 15 years old, and I gained several other students throughout high school and realized how much I enjoy teaching and that I would also enjoy teaching throughout college.

I have worked at School of Rock for 5 years, and started teaching music lessons 3 years prior.

The university I got my degree from is Hofstra University, and this institution is very well known for its music education program.

About the lesson

I begin my lessons with warmup exercises, and afterward the student and I will focus on the main song/concept of the lesson. The last portion of the lesson reviews what we have learned, ensuring that the student has useful notes of what we did and that the student clearly understands all of the information shared during the lesson. If the student requests additional work, I will give small assignments for the student that reflects the lesson concepts.

Since I teach multiple instruments and services, I make sure that I am attentive to each particular student's skills, interests, goals and needs.

I teach students of all ages between ages 5 years old and 25 years old. Most of my students are female, though I have some male students as well.

Keep an open mind and practice consistently :)

I just received a generous grant from the Harman International 1000 Dreams Fund so that I can establish my own recording studio!
