About Marty
I teach traditional Tai chi and qigong based on following principles rather than form. Tai chi and qigong should be your form and not exactly match your teacher's (unless you look exactly like your teacher). The art of tai chi and qigong takes work and practice. It can be fun, it can be boring, it CAN BE AMAZING.
It will help to lower your stress, improve your flexibility and balance. Give it a try. What do you have to lose????

Marty Kidder, of Oak Tree Tai Chi, is a capable, effective, and truly inspiring teacher of the Yang 24 form, the Sun style forms, and the Longevity Tree Qi Gong form. He breaks every movement down into its component parts, teaches those incrementally, offering a lot of repetition and changing perspectives along the way. As a result, learning tai chi is fun for students, and a pleasure to learn. A kind and compassionate approach, and a great sense of humor, top it all off. Marty is exceptional, as a teacher, and as a human being, and I am very happy to be among his many grateful students.
Marty is a great teacher. He well understands the material, explains things well, demonstrates well (and in a variety of styles for various types of learners), and happily answers questions. He has a good sense of humor and a warm and welcoming personality. His classes are fun and informative.
All my training with you, Marty, is so valuable. You teach and
move in a way that keeps my attention completely. I am
committed!!!Marty Kidder's a Master Tai Chi teacher. His precise way of teaching is infused with warmth and humor. I enjoy learning the Tai Chi moves as well as the essence of the practice and, I always feel good after class.
I enjoy working with Marty. He is very knowledgeable, and so personable!! He just makes it a pleasure!!
Marty is very easy to follow and is encouraging. Before I began, I was concerned about my ability to learn tai chi but it has been enjoyable since day one of his classes.
Marty Kidder explains and demonstrates each move in a step by step manner to make it easy to understand. He is very knowledgeable about Tai Chi and Qigong and it shows in his teaching.
The directions are clear and fully explained. I feel that I've gotten stronger and more agile in the months I've been doing this--which is saying a lot since I've had both knees replaced. I enjoy the classes and I've become interested in learning more about the forms and the history of the art. I really like the Longevity Tree--I can feel the chi!
The teacher is very knowledgeable, reenforces the lessons, answers questions, explains the reason for and, when known, the history behind the Tai Chi move/form.
I am very glad to be in his class.A class with Oak Tree Tai Chi Can change your life! Marty is an amazing Tai Chi and Qigong teacher. He explains each new move thoroughly, including health benefits, history, modifications, martial arts applications, etc. He is compassionate, and relates to each student at their level of understanding. No matter what class or level I’m taking with, I leave each session feeling peaceful and with a deeper knowledge of the Way of Tai Chi.
I am fortunate enough to have studied tai chi with Marty Kidder since the day I took my first tai chi step almost ten years ago. With insight, good humor and sensitivity, he is able to break down and explain the movements and principles of tai chi in a manner that a first-time beginner can follow. For those who are more advanced, he uncovers the subtleties and details of the art which lead to the grace and fluidity that characterize tai chi. In addition, the time and energy Marty devotes to teaching students to become instructors themselves allows his knowledge and experience to be shared by many.
I've been taking the online Yang 24 class. I like the pace of the classes, with the great attention to detail that seems to come with ease when one is ready to hear. I also find the question-answer interludes helpful.
The instruction is very clear and easy to follow...each weekly segment gives an ample material to practice through the week then review and added segments keeps it fresh . I love the form.
modeling, clear explanations, the way the forms were broken down into distinct parts, classes always extremely well-prepared
Marty is extremely clear and as he breaks down the moves with foot moves, then waist turns and hands.. He repeatedly demonstrates the full move and then connects it to the form. I have stayed in the back row when taking his “live” classes but with Zoom I feel like I am getting his instruction on a one to one basis in the front row now! I like the recordings from the classes and the opportunity to ask questions and to also hear his responses from participants' questions.
The warm up qigong moves are excellent and I love how they are varied for each class. I am taking all three classes. I feel my knees and legs are being strengthened taking his classes.
I enjoy the changes in the moves from Sun 73 to Sun Style. The longevity tree qigong is perfect since I am fine tuning the details of the moves. The yang form is new and feels wonderful.
Marty is a great instructor! He is always prepared for class. He introduces knew information at appropriate times so as to keep us interested and not overwhelmed. He is receptive and respectful to the needs of his students.
Marty is always fun-loving and energized, and at the same time clearly dedicated to his personal development as a martial artist, and keen on sharing discoveries he has absorbed. His teaching style is both exacting yet patient, welcoming to participants at all levels, and guided by Tai Chi principles and effective teaching methods.
Marty is a teacher I thoroughly enjoy. He explains everything, answers all questions, and when doing the form breaks each move down so that it is easier to figure out and learn. He repeats the moves enough times for me to grasp them. All this with a sense of humor!
The slow pace. Your patience and attention to detail. Your kind and lighthearted manner. The various angles from which you pose and demonstrate; back, side and front.
Marty is an excellent teacher who knows how to pace classes, give reassuring feedback, and provide both humor and knowledge to help people learn.
Marty makes learning tai chi fun and easy. He is patient and knowledgable. Highly recommended.
