About Valerie

I am a friendly person interested in people of all backgrounds, race, ethnicity. I am an experienced school speech pathologist that is semi-retired and want to help people with difficulty communicating because of a heavy accent or cultural dialect. I won't change you, however will help you with better speech to communicate effectively in your daily life! I am experienced in working with children and will do so, but would love to work with adults with a love of verbal communication or who may have trouble with shyness in social situations.

I am friendly, positive, and have a great sense of humor! People need flexibility and I am open to that! Observing an improvement in communication (speech) and helping a client take pride in this is my goal. I love to work with people and see their confidence in their skill increase! I will adapt to any type of personality and will embrace you for who you are!

The love of children and people in general. Others would say I'm a "people person". I have a passion for positive and effective communication.

Speech/ Language Pathologist in school for 32 years. Have good relations with people of all ages. Extensive knowledge in phonetics. Experience with speech disorders, autism spectrum, and more.

About the lesson

Initial contact via zoom will include questions student may have for me or an "interview". Get to know one another and learn client's goals. Talk about times, days and schedule. Initial informal assessment of speech patterns and dialect features.

Ages 1-21, phonological and language disorders. Would like to expand out of the school age population and work with all ages!

Look for a positive relationship, friend that is a teacher as opposed to someone who has a rigid teaching stance. Enjoy while learning!
