I loved learning about all of the French culture throughout AP French. Madame taught us that not only was the grammar important for the course, but the culture of France and other francophone countries, as well. Madame von Doehren was such an attentive teacher; she would tirelessly read through all of our essays and help us through the mistakes, listen to the dialogues that we recorded, and plan out engaging and exciting lesson plans and activities each day. Her extensive knowledge of the French language and culture helped all of us grow as students, as we developed into more educated and well-rounded young adults.

Madame is a dedicated, passionate, and thorough French prof. She brings her love for Francophone culture to the coursework everyday and provides an authentic teaching of the French language. Her precise grammar, spelling, and pronunciation pushed me to sharpen my own skills and bettered my speaking and writing abilities. I will miss her dearly!

Mme Von Doehren is a highly experienced French teacher who taught my class (French IV Honors). Her intense, yet highly engaging and FUN lesson plans really immersed me into the lessons, and I learned an incredible amount of culture as well as the many grammar conventions the French language has to offer. Even after school ended, she was always available and willing to help me and my peers with any questions and always created a comfortable learning environment. She is very dedicated and will ensure that the students' needs are met. I was taught so well by her that in such a challenging course I never even had to think about getting a tutor.

In the levels leading up to AP, she ensures that her students have mastered the grammar so that they are ready to dive into the many different cultural aspects of francophone countries. After having Madame von Doehren as my teacher for two years, I can confidently say that she is extremely knowledgeable and an amazing teacher. I wouldn't change anything about my experience with her.

She is extraordinarily passionate about French language, a fact made even more remarkable by her firsthand knowledge about francophone culture. Her Quebeçois background adds so much nuance to her lessons, whether it be the various delights of Carnaval or the weird looks you’ll get if you ask for “la glace” in a Quebec ice cream shop (instead of “la crême glacée”).

She is an unmatched expert on the AP curriculum and will have you strolling into the classroom on exam day about as confidently as anyone can when faced with three hours of French listening, reading, writing, and—everyone’s biggest fear—speaking.
