About Gwen
Hi! My name is Gwen Ly and I'm a senior at West Texas A&M University. Since Freshman year of college I have been proof reading and assisting in writing essays. I was a teachers assistant for an English professor, helping him revise other student's essays. I prefer to help the younger kids though because many upper level students don't take too well on critique. French is my second language (although I am not as fluent as I used to be), so I love helping students understand their French homework! I won the French I and II awards in high school and it is the first language spoken at home.
In high school I would tutor fellow classmates with their French homework. When I was a freshman at West Texas A&M University, I was an English Teacher's Assistant, helping any of the students with their rough drafts or giving them my reaction on their work before they turned it in for grading.

I think it's always important to introduce one another so to make the student feel as comfortable as they can. I've been on the other side of tutoring and it can be a nervous thing asking for help. I also like to ask the student to address their question in as much detail so that I can have a full understanding of what I need to assist with.
I've worked with helping kids all my life because I have two younger brothers. My parents both had night shift jobs, so I would be there to help them with any homework whether I knew the information or not. I have helped high school kids while I was in high school and college kids now that I attend college.
My advise would be that it is okay to ask questions. Many kids are shy or embarassed to get assistance with homework, but just remember it will only benifit you and your education. There is nothing wrong with asking and there is no such thing as a "dumb question."
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should have the question ready and also be willing to say, "I think it might be this but I'm not sure.." instead of, "I don't know." That shows that they really are trying and I love helping those kids who really care for their education.

I am simply doing this to help other student's succeed with their classes and make some money to help pay for my own education.
