About Molly
I believe that learning music is like learning a new language and it expands your mind in a different way. I believe learning to play a musical instrument takes dilligence and fortitude, but should be fun and not drudgery.
I would love to share the joy of learning music with your son or daughter through beginning or intermediate private flute lessons.
I love to see the progress my students make and to see the joy that playing music brings to them.
I was blessed to be able to teach private lessons from home as well as through the Academy of Performing Arts at Heritage Baptist Church. I also taught music for a semester at Regina Coeli Academy. I took many years off to raise my five children and am just now finding time to embrace playing and teaching again.
Many years ago, I studied music and graduated cum laude with a music performance degree from Huntingdon College. Over the years, I have played in church services, weddings, and concerts.

When working with a new student, I meet with the student and parent/guardian to assess their level of ability and design a program to fit their particular stage. That would include a method book as well as regular music that would support their level. We would learn how to play the flute with proper position, tone, and embouchure as well as the basics of music theory and music terminology .
I don't play piano with which to accompany, so I often choose duets to play with students so that they can work up a repetoir to perform.
The student would be expected to furnish his or her own flute as well as purchase a method book and music, (however some will be provided by the instructor.)
The majority of my students have been children, although I have taught one adult.
