About Lauren

I have always held a deep responsibility to share my passion of music and the flute with my students! As a teacher, I will design goals geared speicifically for you and provide practice and performance techniques that will challenge and excite you! Even if you are not a New York City resident, I offer lessons over Zoom and Face Time. A little bit about me- I am a current graduate student at The Juilliard School, and I hold a Bachelor's degree from Manhattan School of Music. My orchestral experiences include performances with The New York Philharmonic, New World Symphony, The Montclair Orchestra, National Repertory Orchestra, and the Buffalo Philharmonic.

My goal as a teacher is for my students to leave their lessons feeling motivated and embracing their love for music.

I have eight years of experience in helping students prepare for college auditions, summer programs, all-county and all-state auditions.

About the lesson

An important point that I always stress with my new students is having organized practice sessions so that they are covering all the appropriate material every day. Together, we will devise a practice plan to ensure the greatest rate for your success.

During our first lesson, I will determine aspects of technique that need to be addressed. I will prioritize these points it in a way that is understandable and does not overwhelm the student.

I have worked primarily worked with students between the ages 6-18. I am also open to teaching adult students.

I have two main pieces of advice. The first is two avoid a "One size fits all" approach. There is never just one correct method to learn something or way to trouble shoot a given technical issue. Find a teacher that will support your specific needs. The second tip is to find a teacher who will encourage your passion. They should motivate you without taking away your own voice or creativity.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Always remember that there are no such thing as stupid questions! There is a great chance that your teacher has already helped another student with a similar issue.

I recommend keeping a practice journal so that you can keep track of certain things that are consistently difficult for you and share it with your teacher.
