About Emily

My passion is to work with students, especially those in the process of applying to colleges and/or universities. I have a bachelor's degree in Sociology and a master's degree in Education Policy. Although neither of those are writing degrees these areas of study required me to write a plethora of essays, policy briefs, and research papers. I have more than 7 years of research experience and 5 years of teaching and mentoring experience.

I love learning something new from students, helping them break-down essays in a way that makes sense to them, and witnessing their writing progress. My goal is to accomodate my tutoring methods for each student. I believe each student learns differently which requires a change in both the curriculum and timeline.

I have a bachelor's degree in Sociology from Beloit College and a master's degree in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

About the lesson

I like begin by asking new students about the learning methods that work best for them. I then work with the student to develop hourly/daily/weekly writing goals. We then work through the necessary steps to reach those goals.

I have worked with college students, middle school students, and high school students.
