About Paul
I teach writers of all levels of experience to develop a story and write in succinct language and style whether it's fiction or memoir or essays or even school compositions and term papers. I use a method I developed to encourage writers to write in short scenes and not to worry about plot and structure until you get some writing done. I specialize in developmental editing: does the story hold together? Are the characters real? Does the narrative description emply specific detail that advances the story? Is the dialogue believeable? Does the writer use active voice? These are just some of the areas we discuss in developing and editing a narrative.
I develop all lessons for the individual needs of each writer.
I have and MA and an MFA in Creative Writing and have taught writing since 1980 to people of all ages. I have editied several magazines and published many stories, poems, news articles, features stories, and more. I have edited and written books and have writter advertising and marketing copy.
I enjoy working with people of all ages and all levels of writing experience. Every individual has a story to tell, and I like to help people in developing and writing their story and finding an audience for it. I have worked as a writer, editor, marketing director and publisher, so I understand all the facets of writing, editing and publishing. I tailor my teaching and coahing to each individual based on their level of experience and their needs. I can help writers at all stages if their writing experience from planning to editing to publishing.

I tailor my teaching/coaching to the individual writer. but first I start by interviewing the writer to discuss the project and the areas of focus in the writing. It is helpful for me to read samples of writing in order to gauge the level of experience. Then I develop a program for each individual.
