About Lydia

I am dedicated to helping students grow and learn skills that will stay with them. I will adapt to the needs of my students and work with them to develop techniques that play to their strengths.

Helping people learn and expand their horizons has always been a joy for me. I myself am always excited to learn new skills and strenghten my abilities, and I want to inspire this same appreciation for learning in others.

During my sophmore year, I was asked by a math teacher in high school to work with a student in oone of his classes after school. This then turned into a twice a week paid job where I helped her for an hour on homework problems and concepts she struggled with in class. As a junior, I worked as a Spanish tutor for a student in my AP Spanish class, and helped her work on grammer and writing skills.

I was a Math and Spanish tutor in high school, and worked as an assistant improv comedy coach for middle school age students from 2016 to 2018.

About the lesson

Depending on what skills that student is looking to improve upon, I like to see work they have done in the past and to get a sense of what needs the most work. By doing this, I can help the student focus on the gaps in their abilities and provide them with assistance in those areas.

I have worked with high school students as a tutor, but have experience working with children ages five through thirteen in other job positions.

Whenever you are looking to improve your abilities in any area, it is crucial that you are ready to uncover any weaknesses you may have. If you are prepared to unlearn and relearn different techniques, you will be able to move forward with a better understanding of how you work as a student.

This past semester I took a class on colonialism in North America, and for our final I wrote a paper with two of my classmates. We worked incredibly hard on the assignment, and ended up getting a perfect mark, but more importantly we were proud of the work we had done and the effort we all put into the paper.

I charge between $15 and $25 an hour depending on the students needs, abilities, and how much time I need to prepare outside of the tutoring session.
