About Phoebe

I have taught students previously of all ages, so I have experience. I've tutored kids both in person and through video call, so I am comfortable with all times of communication. My schedule is also typically very flexible and I will definitely be open to changes in times and dates. My classes are very dynamic and I like to teach in a multitude of ways, catering to whichever form of learning is the easiest for my students. Since I am a younger tutor, I can relate to my students and understand their struggles when it comes to learning and succeeding, and so I will always want to help them in any possible way I can!

I love to work with students, especially younger ones because I have a younger brother so I have learned to be very patient and understanding. Helping students grow makes me feel happy and makes me enjoy my job as a tutor.

I started teaching when I joined a club in junior high called Alkaid, where I taught kids in Taiwan/China how to speak English. I immediately loved it, especially because I grew up in Taiwan, so I had to learn English as a second language. I continued to teach all throughout highschool, and now I still love to teach.

Since junior high, I have been teaching English to students of all ages, both native speakers and non-native speakers. I have also tutored younger kids in math both in the U.S. and in Taiwan. Therefore, I have multiple years under my belt and am very comfortable with teaching any type of student.

About the lesson

My typical process for working with a new student is first having a small talk in order for me to familiarize myself when them and for them to become more comfortable with me. I don't want to intimidate my students and I make sure I answer any questions and doubts they have so that our tutoring sessions are more successful and comfortable. I also like to ask what it is the parents/student believes is the problem or area in need of help, as well as the student's stronger abilities.

I have worked with students of all ages, as well as students who are fluent in english and completely new to the language. For math, I typically worked with younger students.
