About Kaedy

I am very eager to help my students find the answers on their own. I will always guide them to the right answer and help them to understand, but I think it's important for students to feel accomplished in their work.

I absolutley love watching the smile on a students face when they realize they are growing and improving in an area they have previously struggled with.

I teach from the mindset that every student brings something different and new to the table. I love watching people achieve their greatest potential.

I started teaching about three years ago as a substitute teacher and then transitioned to a preschool teacher. I’ve always had a passion for working with students one on one so I decided to take on private clients and I have been tutoring ever since.

I am an accomplished tutor with five years of experience under my belt. I have helped students prepare for various standardized exams including the ISEE and other subjects such as Math with great success. My speciality is working with ESL students. I have worked privately and with various tutoring companies. I am currently a teacher at Rodeph Sholom on the Upper West Side. Prior to teaching at RSS, I served as a substitute teacher in various Manhattan Private Schools.

As someone that always loved working with teachers in school, I know the wonderful qualities I would like to bring as a tutor. I think it’s important to be a quick thinker because sometimes you have to improv and switch it up in a lesson! With a theatre background, I am good at doing that. I also think it’s important to bring kindness and an open mind. As much as I love helping students, I love learning from them even more.

About the lesson

I really strive to get to know how each student learns and what they are trying to get out of the tutoring processs.

I have worked with students preparing for exams to enter Elementary and Middle School. I have also worked with ESL students and elementary math students.

I think it’s very important to find the right fit! I think you should know exactly what it is you would like to get out of your tutoring sessions so that the tutor can really help you achieve your goal. It’s important to have a goal because then you can access your growth.

I recently was tutoring a young girl that really didn’t want to have a lesson because she was tired from her long day at school. But when I told her we would be playing some games, she got very excited. She was able to enjoy learning and I think that’s very important. Then when we were done with the games we moved on to a workbook and she was able to complete the pages with ease. By introducing her to games, she was already in the mindset and able to stay focused.
