About Natasha

I’m a young adult with an intense passion for all things literature and writing related! Be it grammar, essays, analyzing literature, or brainstorming for creative writing I’m always happy to help. As a former librarian, as well as an honor roll student in college and salutatorian in high school, I have quite a bit of knowledge on books and the English language. Anything I don’t already know can be easily researched with my knack for technology.

I absolutely loved my teachers through high school and college. Because of my good relationships woth them I spent a lot of time visiting my old grade school. During those visits I’d get to know the kids and some of the newer staff, and would occasionally help out if a staff member was too busy. Being in that environment as an adult really inspired me to keep trying to be a role model and, with any luck, become a true inspiration like my teachers were for me.

I worked as a librarian for over a year in Alaska, so I’m quite familiar with literature as well as technology. I’ve also spent some of that time as a substitute teacher, and even have a certificate in TESOL (Teaching English as a foreign language).

About the lesson

Depending on the area that the student requires help with, my approach might differ a little. For grammar based issues simple worksheets or reference books may be all that’s necessary. While for creative writing I’d probably have the student study the writing style of a novel in order to guide them towards finding their own style for writing.

Find someone who teaches with more than just a textbook. Those are fine to get the basics, but when it comes to grammar and literature the absolute best way to master it is to spend time reading and analyzing various writers and their styles. It helps with the creative parts of English, but can also give you insight into some grammatical rules you might not have been aware of.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What is a part of English that you really struggle in? Grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary and spelling, or essays? Also what is an area you feel confindent in, but maybe want to refine? Are you struggling with writing, reading comprehension, or both? And finally: how far do you want to go with English? Are you just trying to pass your classes or are you looking to perfect a natural talent?
