About Scott

I earned a B.A. in Journalism from Indiana University in 2004. I also have Master of Theological Studies from Anderson University in 2007.

I scored Scored Standardized Assessments for CTB-McGraw Hill on a project basis for several years. I am the former co-editor of quarterly newsletter, self-published author and was a volunteer sports writer for two years.

Additonally I have experience as a substitute teacher and am currently a full-time chat specialist for local company.

Being able to write well opens so many doors of opportunity in life. People often think that writing is a gift that you are either born with or you aren't but the truth is that with a little patience and perserverance it is a skill that can be devloped and honed. Earnest Hemmingway once said,

"It's none of their business that you have to learn to write. Let them think you were born that way."

Written communication impacts many areas of life including school, work and interpersonal relationships. Learning to do it better is an investment worth making and the confidence that comes from doing so lasts a lifetime.

About the lesson

The first step is to communicate expectation with the parent or parents. We will discuss goals and outcomes, areas of focus and learning styles. When I meet the student I will spend a little time getting to know him or her, learn about their expectations and discuss the goals as established by the partent or parents. We may do a questionaire to determine more precisely the student's learning style and of course I will ask if there is any asssignment in particular that he or she is needing help with. Based on all of this information we will develop a plan and take action!

Details

My standard rate us $25 per hour. I am willing to travel up to 40 minutes one way but there is a $10 fee for travel more than 20 minutes one way. There is also a $10 fee for cancellations with fewer than 24 hours notice. $45 for two hours.
