About Amanda
Hello! My name is Ms. Maitland and I am so excited to introduce myself to you. I have a passion for helping my students learn by creating fun, engaging lessons designed especially with each student in mind. I do not use cookie-cutter lesson plans. I believe that learning about my students hobbies, passions, likes, and dislikes all help me to create unique lessons that they can better connect with. I also believe in finding out each student's learning style and catering to it during the lessons. By creating lessons with each student in mind, I have the ability to gain my students trust and help them love the learning process.
I enjoy helping each of my students gain confidence and reach their full potential.
I have always had a passion for education and for children and I knew from a young age that I wanted to become a teacher. I began my teaching career after finishing my Elementary Education degree and have loved every minute of it.
I am a certified teacher with over 17 years of teaching experience. My degree is in Elementary Education, and I have the following teaching certifications.

The typical process for working with a new student will begin by getting to know the student. Learning my students interests and the way they learn best not only helps me to better prepare the lessons, it also helps me to connect with my students. Knowing their likes and dislikes, their passions and hobbies, and what makes them unique helps me to know how to best meet their educational needs.
I have worked with many different types of students. I have taught students with special needs, students with English as their second language, and with gifted and talented students.
Look for a teacher who is not only passionate about education and knows their content, but also one who desires to get to know how you learn best and your interests. When you can find a teacher who knows how you best learn and can include your interests in the lessons, you will enjoy the educational process so much more and therefore retain the information better. Learning does not have to be boring.
