About Shari

I have a variety of experience. I have my undergrad in Elementary Ed and my masters degree in special education. I was a sped teacher for 9 years. I taught 4-5th grade hands on science for 5 years. I'm currently a literacy coach, helping teachers teach literacy to their students. I'm Wilson Reading certified. I'm well qualified to tutor in reading for ages 5-12. If they are older elementary aged I like to also teach organization skills and how to take notes.

I love watching my students succeed. I believe every student will make progress when working with me. There is power in perservereing through something that is hard and then finding success. I love being that support system and cheerleader.

I have always wanted to be a teacher. From a young age I knew I had a talent in working with children and teaching. My desire and love of teaching continues to grow each year.

I have a Bachelor's degree in K-8 grade elementary education. I have a Master's degree in K-12 Special Education. I have endorsements in reading, elementary STEM, and ELL. I'm finishing my Wilson Reading certification. I am AVID trained which is a program how to teach students to take notes and organize their notes to be self motivated learners.

About the lesson

I first figure out what level they are on and what their holes are by doing assessments or inventories. I then choose the best program based on their needs. We then set goals and check ins to help gage growth. We often check in with goals and adjust as needed.

I have mainly worked with Elementary Education aged Special Education students.
