About Cyndee

The ability to drive plays an important part in a person’s overall independence. The skill of operating a motor vehicle safely is a door to independence. Our company, owned and run by an occupational therapist, primarily serves clients with disabilities in achieving their driving goals. However, we recognize a need for new drivers to achieve their behind the wheel instruction (state required 6 hours) and we are fully credentialed and able to meet this need. Our calm approach and vigileance in learning life long good driving habits will serve your needs. We look forward to assisting you with your driving goals. It is gratifying to see a drive advance in skill knowing that skills are developing that will lead to safe roadway use for a lifetime.

Our team is all occupational therapists who are also state certified as driving instructors. Our passion to help individuals gain driving independence led to all of our team being credentialed to teach driving.

Our state certified driving instructors have met and exceeded all the requirements to teach driver's education. We are state licensed as driving instructors and also licensed as occupational therapists. We have continuing education and training on the state and national level.

About the lesson

Our first hour is focused on getting new drivers comfortable with the operational skills of driving. That means learning how to smoothly apply the accelerator and brake, control the wheel, and communicate through signal use. Our training progresses to tactical skill development; knowing how to judge gaps, make lane changes, use good visual scanning, monitor following distance and maintain lane positioning. We address the skills required for passing the DMV road test for licensure including a 3-point turn, straight line backing, and parking skills. Strategic skill development is also included. That means allowing the student to route plan, use gps systems when appropriate, and rehearse their familiar routes.

We have worked with students across the life span including neuro typical teens, neuro divergent teens, individuals of all ages with special needs such as driving with a hand control or left foot accelerator, those who need to drive from a wheelchair, and international students.

Find an instructor who will listen as well as instruct, encourage as well as provide constructive feedback, and who wants you to gain safe life-long driving habits.

Our team of occupational therapists is growing, building the next generation of superstar occupational therapists and state certified driving instructors. We are proud of our teams goals of excellence.
