About Susan

My passion is in transformation. My work is to create the space for you to explore and transform your movement, your confidence, and your joy!

I teach the following styles:

HIP-HOP (beginner to advanced)

I was leading the choreography for a performance art class when one of the performance art teachers ran across our rehearsal (and by rehearsal, I mean practicing in the middle of a school hallway with music blasting out of a phone). That teacher was friends with a local dance studio owner and recommended that I meet with her to take over her Hip-Hop classes. She had me lead a trial class at her studio, and my teaching career kicked off.

From there, I continued to choreograph and teach at my high school, eventually graduating to choreographer of my collegiate group at Fairfield University. After joining Double Dance Company in 2012, I continued to gain teaching opportunities at studios and dance programs throughout Connecticut. I have also assisted and taught as faculty through Liberate Artists in both LA and NYC.

About the lesson

It's super important to get to know my student and her/his interest in dance before we start moving. Whether it's simply to get the body moving or learn a new technique or improve on knowledge and movement they already have, I like to get clear on what we can work on together and create a game plan.

Once we know what we're working toward, we can get the body moving. I always incorporate stretching and warming up exercises to make sure our bodies stay healthy and happy before we dive into our lesson.

Depending on the style and level, we'll take time to check-in to make sure we are progressing, getting the most out of our sessions, and feeling good!

Children age 4 and up

Adults up to 65 yrs old

Special needs children above age 8

Professional and pre-professional advanced level

Beginner students with no experience
