About Valerie
The IDC offers dance training in a supportive, inclusive environment. Classes for ages 3 and up are taught by working dance professionals in a wide variety of dance styles: hip hop, ballet, modern, jazz, tap and creative dance. Special workshops in world dance styles such as West African, Afro-Haitian, Hawaiian, and Salsa are offered as well. IDC Director Valerie Bergman is world - renowned as a dancer, choreographer and dance educator. She has toured throughout the world with the New York based companies of Merce Cunningham and Nina Werner as well as, for the past 20 years, with her professional dance company Rainbow Dance Theatre. In addition to directing the IDC and RDT Ms. Bergman also teaches as guest professor at Western Oregon University and at Xuchang University in China.
The IDC training system prepares students interested in pursuing professional careers while still making dance fun and accessible to all. We love what we do - and the joy of our students is proof of that!
