About Carolina

What satisfies me the most is to see my students performing on stages around the DMV area in public and private events.

I started teaching back in 2008 in Medellin, Colombia. With my sister we created a dance company with around 35 dancers on the stage, and around 70 students among private and group classes. When I moved to Washington DC my goal was to keep performing on different stages and as I was doing it people asked me for classes. Nowadays my dance company has around 20 students, with different specialties: bellydance, Colombian folklore, world dance for kids and Latin dances (including samba no pé).

We have been hired for embassies, universities, theatres, corporate events, private events, etc.

You can find me on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook as @dancecarolinah. On my YouTube channel you can appreciate dances from India to Colombia, including Bollywood, Bellydance, Turkish dances, Latin dances, Samba and Colombian folklore

I started dancing more than 15 years ago just for fun at it changed my life. After 5 years of taking classes I decided to make it my career having the fortune of have been traveling to perform at different places of the world.

I have more than 15 years training with people of origin (Instructors born and raised at the places where the dances are from)

Raqs Flow certification (Bellydance)

Journey Through Egypt Level 1 and 2 (Egyptian folklore certification)

Red de Danza Virtual Certification (Colombian folklore)

About the lesson

The first question I ask is about their motivation and goal taking my classes.

Second I checked their level and abilities.

Finally I customize the classes for each student according to the necessities and desires that the person has.

I have worked with many types of students, from different ages, necessities and cultural backgrounds

I advice to the students to hire teachers that are constantly training themselves, not only at the dance studio but with people of origin, instructors that care for the culture and history of the dances they teach, a instructor that is a very disciplined student as well

GET Dance company recently got hired to do two one hour shows, on efor May and one for June. I am in love with the process and seeing the results step by step.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The first two questions a student should ask is why he or she wants to take certain classes and learn certain techniques. What are the goals (to have fun, excercise, perform, teach in the future).

The second question is "why not" Just take the risk to discover an amazing world and travel around the globe through dance!

My standard prices are

$60 for the private classes up to 3 people (up to 90 minutes class)

$60 per 1 hour class for Quinceanera and first dance

$20 per class for the group classes
