About Giselle
I am a freelance dancer teacher, willing to meet with students who are unable to commit to paying for traditional studio classes or have irregular schedules. I provide one-on-one services, designed for those who may feel lost or overwhelmed in large class sizes. My pace is based entirely on the comfort of the student; we can start slow from a beginners level or fast paced at an intermediate/advanced level. I am also able to teach couples at the same time for partner work and combinations, and/or individual routines and styling. Students should feel free to communicate any of their needs with me, whether it's focusing on one specific technique or learning a routine they saw on YouTube. I am a versatile dancer who is willing to work with students of all backgrounds.
I love seeing people have fun! Dancing is about expressing ourselves and feeling the music. My main goal isn't so much that my students do all the steps perfectly and have expert technique, but to have fun, and be comfortable and confident when they dance. My greatest joy is seeing my students both try and enjoy themselves at the same time!
I began teaching through the Salsa club (Pura Sabrosura) at UWF. My classes consist of 2 parts: individual breakdown of basic steps and styling, and then partner work (usually followed by social dancing to end the class). Through networking, by means of the University, I have also taught Salsa and Bachata classes for the Pace Highschool Spanish club, as well as an adult class for Latin Dancers at Bric a Brac in Destin.
I have been dancing for about 11 years, with a variety of dance styles under my belt (i.e. Ballet, Contemporary/Interpretative, Jazz, Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Rumba, Swing, Merengue, Cha-cha, Tinikling, and Hula). I have taught beginner Ballet for a toddler class, and most recently taught Salsa and Bachata classes at the University of West Florida for the last 3 years. As choreographer for the Salsa club (Pura Sabrosura), I have created routines we have performed for various school events, as well as for Latino/Hispanic Festivals for the greater Pensacola/Destin area and Tallahassee.

New students will learn the basic steps to each dance, of which I will go over slowly and however many times the students needs to memorize them. Once the student feels comfortable enough, we can begin by dancing the basics to music, which will help the student hear and count the steps. These fundamentals are the most important thing for the student to master if they are interested in partner work and/or social dancing. Regardless of experience, I will always go over the basics with a students as a refresher and warm-up.
I have worked with students of all ages and backgrounds and experience. Ranging from professional dancers, to couples wanting to learn salsa for their wedding, to children, or to those who are looking for a new hobby.
My advice would be, don't be afraid to try something new and to always have fun. Though I've been a dancer for many years and have grown comfortable with teaching others, it has only been through the joys of Latin social dancing that I've learned to step outside of my comfort zone and have fun. My skill as a dancer has improved drastically once I learned to let go! Dance is self-expression and the only wrong way to do it is by holding yourself back from just enjoying where the music takes you.
A recent event that I am most fond of would be performing in Downtown Pensacola in January 2017 at the Latino Festival with my co-choreographer and partner. We were able to perform an original routine in the street with a large crowd surrounding and supporting us. The event celebrated the diversity of Hispanic culture through dance, music, and food.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think it's important to be vocal about any concerns they might have, no matter how small, whether it's their age, or ability, or anything that is making them uncomfortable. My number one priority is the safety and comfort of my students.
