About Cat

I have been a dance teacher for over 25 years and have degrees in Bachelor of Fine Arts and In Dance and Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science.

I love to pass down the knowledge of dance (ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, tap) and execise science that was given to me and to educate students about the anatomy and physiology of our human bodies!

I got started teaching as Pre-K level and Ballet 1s and Tap 1s at the age of 16 at my local dance studio growing up. Prior to that I was already teaching friends and helping neighbors choreograph their group exercise routines at that age.

I have a Bachlor of Fine Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science for Western Michigan Uniersity. I have been a dance teacher the longest with 27 years of experience. I have 21 years as an Exericse Physiologist/Personal Trainer. My dance training is deep studying under many masters in dance such as, Cechetti Council of America and Vaganova Method in Ballet, David Howard, Mark Hinkson, Donald McKayle, Billy Sigenfeld, Joe Tremaine, Frank Hatchett, Gus Giordano, Ken Swift, Billy Sigenfeld among many other greats!!!

About the lesson

First I like to see what the student wants to learn and how they want to grow. Then I ask them what kind of experience they already have. From there I get the student moving first with some basics to see if they are missing anything technically. While doing that I check alignment and form to then know how to conduct lessons moving forward!!

I have worked with all levels of dance and exercise. From Beginner to Professional!

My biggest advice to students is that if you want something you got to "Will" yourself to do it! No one can do it for you but you. With that being said, some things are not easy and others are. It's the hard stuff that makes us stronger and helps keeps things interesting. Life is all about challenges. You just need to rise to the occasion and that's what makes for an interesting life!!!!!!

I am recently fond of a student that is taken from me virtually. She has increased her ankle strength and flexibility. She is also retaining movement sequences as I send her video tutorials to practice when we are not meeting.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should consider the Why/What?

For instance what is it about dance or exericise that you want to learn more about it. Everyone can have a different reason why they want to learn....and with that application growth is more probable as now the lesson is geared to the reason !
