About Krista
My teaching philosophy involves starting where my students are now in terms of knowledge, skills, and abilities. I listen carefully to their needs, and use this to create a realistic and efficient plan to make the most of their tutoring time with me. We work together as a team to add new skills, refine current skills, fill in any gaps in their knowledge and deepen their understanding of the selected topic.
My students have ranged in age from 8 to 80+. I’ve helped college students pass particularly tricky economics and MBA classes, helped graduate students learn research skills, tutored adult learners on their PC & Mac computer skills, taught teenagers how to code and pass industry certification exams and encouraged younger students to build math muscles in order to see learning gains by the end of the school year.
I have worked extensively with students who have IEPs and 504 plans with a wide range of exceptionalities. I started my public school teaching career to work in gifted education, and also hold a Gifted Endorsement.
I’m a former corporate and government trainer & current middle school teacher in Palm Beach County. I hold a current Florida Professional Educator Certificate to teach Computer Science (Grades K-12), Social Science (6-12), Earth Science (6-12), Business Education (6-12) and all Middle Grades (5-9) core subjects including Math and English Language Arts.
