I have been tutoring students for 5 years with extremely high success. Many students go from dreading their financial subjects to enjoying them and looking forward to their next classes. Ultimately this means they're no longer just getting by but actively using these skills to their benefit.

Students appreciate how I take the mystery out of financial subjects by turning them into everyday conversations that fit how we naturally think about money.

Formulas often intimidate students so its been important for me to reinterpret them away from greek letters and back into ideas that make sense.

All my students have highly recommended me to peers after working together and usually throughout the semester I end up with three or four new students from the same class looking for help. From my point of view, that is my best credential.

I am currently completing my master's degree in strategic management at MSU. I primarily work as a corporate finance consultant, but also have a passion for financial literacy. This fall, I am also launching a series of courses I've researched and written to teach the public essential financial skills.

During my B.Comm I received 4.0 grades in my financial courses. At the end of the degree, the school contacted me to be added to their list of potential tutors and I agreed. I didn't think much of it at the time, but 6 months later I was working with twelve students and getting so busy I had to start working in groups.

A year later, I was doing study sessions on campus for mid-terms and finals that had 30-40 students per day.

I've always enjoyed empowering students not just to pass, but to discover their own potential. So, I attempt to bridge lessons into areas of their lives where they can get the most out of what they learn.

About the lesson

I prefer to have a 15 minute chat to understand your goals and background. Then, we can look into the options that suit your needs and build a plan together.

I like to focus on corporate finance and accounting topics. So, if we do chat and I don't think I'm the right fit for you, I will encourage you to find someone more suitable.

All college and university level students.

Find someone that speaks your language. There are many styles of learning and you want someone that connects with your style.

Personally, I like to see a new concept illustrated while its explained to me. The visual reference really anchors the concept in my mind and I like to teach concepts the same way.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Understand your goals, which parts of the subject you are succeeding with, and which parts are frustrating you. This will help you make the most progress for your money spent.

Details

I can tutor 1-on-1, in small groups of 2-3 students, or in large sessions. Depending on the setting the rates improve per student per hour when there are more students at once.

1-on-1 rates are $50 USD / hr and can go down from there.
