About John

I take a relaxed approach to teaching because I believe that both the learning and the exercise should be fun, and should make you want to do it when you are not.

I enjoy helping people learn great technique and learn that they can actually do these things that I love so much.

I began teaching as an assistant to my Savate Professeur at his seminars. From there I started a small Savate group of my own, and then later began teaching at the UFC Gym in Torrance, CA

I have a Silver Glove in Savate Boxe-Francaise. (This is the equivalent of a 2nd Black Belt in Asian disciplines.) I have also spent a great amount of time studying Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) and Western Boxing, and then a smaller amount of time studying Filipino Kali (I'm merely a few years into this, so I do not teach anything related to this discipline.)

About the lesson

Specifically related to my teaching curriculum, we will go through basic strikes and basic footwork in the beginning; From there, we will move into more complicated combinations and footwork. All of this work will be done with me holding mitts for you while you go through all of the actions, using steady 2min rounds with 1min rests in between.

I like to work with all types of students, from those who want to merely get more cardio through Boxing and Kickboxing, to those who want to seriously study the art.
