About Jon

I have been a bass player for over twenty-five years and an audio engineer for over twelve years. My students have had a lot of fun and growth during their development and I find teaching to be truly rewarding.

I have college education from Central Michigan University and Lansing Community College in music education, audio recording, and audio production. I've also been a performer on electric bass and sound engineer on stages all around Michigan over the past twenty-plus years.

About the lesson

I begin by getting an assessment of what knowledge the student already has on the subject, if any. From there, I use literature, personal knowledge, and other resources to help them move forward.

In the past I played bass for fun but had no real musical background. For the past year Jon has been teaching me technical fundamentals, notation, scales, etc. Now I feel like more of a complete player, who can learn songs faster and improvise with other musicians. i would highly recommend Jon as a teacher!
