About LaMar

I'm a successful basketball coach in the area that would like to teach young athletes the game of basketball using encouraging methods to assist and give young athletes a sense of success and consistent interest in improving basic skills in basketball as an individual player and team skills that the youth athletes can use to apply to the basketball game and skills as well as in life! I have been coaching basketball since 2001. I have worked at Southern Nash Middle School winning a conference championship in my second year and runner up my very first year! I have also worked with Nash County Parks and Recreation for 3 years! The first 2 years my team was undefeated in the regular season winning regular season champs 2 years in a row and reaching the tournament championship game 2 years in a row! My goal is to build young athletes confidence and self esteem in life and in basketball. I also am looking to form some traveling teams for the Nash, Edgecombe, and Wilson Counties to compete in travel ball( basketball) tournaments and competitions.

I enjoy the look on a youth athlete's face when they have worked hard to accomplish a goal, master a skill win a game, or just simply understand the process of improving! Priceless!

Perfect! Coach Jones is an amazing coach. My two 8 year old daughters have been working with him since Dec 2021. He is very understanding and patient and takes his time until they understand what they learned and why. He has helped improve their shooting, moving with the ball, defense, pretty much their entire game has evolved in this short amount of time. He even took the time out to come to one of their games to cheer them on and also evaluate their game. If you are looking for an amazing coach to help take your child to the next level coach Jones is the one. Thanks Coach! See you soon!

Perfect! Coach Jones was a great coach for my daughter..
My 13 year old daughter had never played basketball before. He taught her all the basics in a few weeks. He was very patient and created a positive learning environment.
My daughter was able to play on her school team this year and she really enjoys basketball now...
