About Sydney

Welcome! I have played basketball for the majority of my life. I played collegiate basketball at and graduated from Life University (NAIA Division I). I began coaching immediately after completing my collegiate career in 2019, and have worked with all ages from elementary to collegiate. I coached with Elite Hoops Basketball for two years, middle school for two seasons, I was an assistant varsity coach at Hiram High School for 5 years, and a head coach for the junior varsity team at Hiram High for 3 years. I’m very knowledgeable when it comes to basketball and I know what it takes to become a great basketball player. I am passionate in helping kids learn and grow through character building and skill development. I’m very detail-oriented and care about my players’ growth, joy, and successes. I work to build on both strengths and weaknesses, I pay close attention to habits, good and bad, providing feedback and guidance to both. I give my all when training and expect the same from my players. I not only explain what to do, but I also explain the how and why behind drills. Lastly, I strive to create a positive and safe environment for players to thrive in. I push my players to be better basketball players and show support, compassion, and encouragement throughout the process. I want nothing but the best for those whom I am fortunate enough to work with.

Coach Syd is incredibly detail oriented and emphasizes fundamentals over flash, focusing on players growth and long-term development. She essentially lives in the gym and for the opportunity to train her players. She understands the game from different positions and offers feedback/critique in a teaching way. It’s not just about what you did wrong, but how to correct it and explains why. Her approach to coaching develops a level of trust, understanding, and accountability with her players allowing their relationship to extends beyond their playing career. If you want to learn and grow as a player she’s your coach!

I like the fact that im pushed no matter what and the fact that we work on real life game situations not just some random drills. I also like the fact that she comes to my games and watches so she can pinpoint my weaknesses and what i need to work on for the next couple of sessions.
