About Bryan

I have been involved in Basketball since I was a little kid.

I have played organized ball from 8th grade to my sophomore year of high school. After that I started coaching for about 3-4 years and officiated for about 6 years.

I will use my experience and knowledge to help anyone, whether a beginner or intermediate player, improve and learn any and all aspect of the game that they wish to learn.

After I came home from ththe navy I started working as a referee for Basketball at private/catholic schools in the San Jose Bay Area. After about 5 years of that I inquired about an open coaching position at one of the schools that I worked at.

I ended up coaching there for about 2 years before moving down to Garden Grove.

The only education and training I have is what I learned in school as a player then as a coach when I worked with grade school and junior high kids.

About the lesson

I will first find out how much the student knows about the game and what they are bestat/most comfortable with as far as: dribbling, shooting, passing and defensive stances.

Then we will work on improving all of their skills, or just the ones they would prefer us to work on.

I have mainly worked with 4th-8th graders of all skill types.

Look for someone who is approachable and a good people person. Someone who believes in an even ratio of up lifting and stern coaching. Also someone who is very "hands on" and interactive.

I am a huge fan of either going to or watching basketball games on TV, it gives me a chance to 'Catch up'c on how teams are playing and if any rules have changed or updated so that I can have a better understanding of the game and be a better/more up to date coach.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
It isn't always a "must do", but it helps to be as detailed and specific as possible. Specifics, for me, are not a '#1' thing, I am ok with starting out by teaching any and everything then going to the specifics as we progress.
