By diving straight into what to do is a common mistake. I show the real world interpretation to have a better grasp of the material being taught.
I've worked with elementary, middle, high school up to 11th and some 12th(I didn't take every math course). Anything beyond calculus is a mystery until I learn it.
Understand that math is hard due to the fact that the majority think it's hard. Sure, it is. But you can truly get better if taught in another perspective.
