About Bede

At Bede's Beacon, I aim to help you figure out what it takes to succeed in the chosen area of study. A tutor can't take the place of day-to-day teaching and personal study, but I can help answer questions, clear up misunderstandings, help you practice and drill, and suggests strategies for your personal study.

I have an MA in historical linguistics from the University of Georgia and am widely studied in history and ancient languages. I have experience teaching young people both professionally and as a homeschool father. Let's see if we can find some rapport with each other and get to work toward achieving your academic goals!

Since I was in high school I wanted to teach. My initial intent was to become a college professor - and I did enjoy teaching Intro to Linguistics to undergraduates as a TA in graduate school - but life happened and my professional life took off in a different direction. But I enjoy trying to pass on the spark of interest that has never died down in me and kindle interest in others through instruction.

I have an MA in in Historical Linguistics from the University of Georgia. Among the languages I have studied are Latin, Koine Greek, Old English, Old Norse, Gothic, Classical Armenian, and Sanskrit.

I have since taught Latin to elementary students at a classical school.

About the lesson

Once I know your experience and objectives I take a tailored approach. I won't waste your time by going too far beyond what is needed, but I will provide broader perspective as required also.

I have worked with elementary through high schoolers teaching languages. I have also taught linguistics to college students.

Details

$35 an hour (1 hr min). This fee includes an hour of live meeting using Google Meet, but I am also available on a more limited basis by email for incidental issues or clarifications.
