First thing is to find out why student wants to learn karate.
The most important thing about learning how to defend yourself is to learn how to stay out of dangerous situations in the first place.
Having to resort to violence is a LAST resort because noone wins in that situation.
Finally, I don't teach "moves". That's for TV and the movies and can get you seriously injured or worse.
It takes a long time before you can physically and EMOTIONALLY effectively use karate in a real life self defense situation.
