About Lauren

Lauren's Strategic Academic Study Skills offers students resources, skills and strategies to aid in overall academic success. Lauren has been working with college students for 8 years teaching study skills, strategies and providing academic guidance. In her work as a Learning Specialist for a major University, she has worked with students with learning disabilities and ADHD and she has taught courses to incoming Freshmen on Academic Success.

I enjoy working with students and seeing them make progress towards their academic goals. Helping students enhance and refine their academic study skills and strategies is rewarding and why I love teaching. I understand that each student is unique and has their own individual learning needs. My instruction is based on the student and the ways that help them learn best.

I have worked as a learning specialist at a major university for the past 8 years. In my role I have worked with high-risk students to help build their academic and study skills. Many of the students that I have worked with had learning disabilities and/or ADHD. I have a Master's Degree in Sports Management and will complete my second Master's in Curriculum and Instruction this August (August 2020).

About the lesson

Building rapport with students is first and formost a priority when I start working with a new student. It is important that I get to know the student to help me understand how they learn and what methods and strategies may work best for the student. I also think that assessing students to understand where their skills are is important when begining to work with them.

I typically work with students who are academically at-risk for not passing thier courses and may be as risk for not graduating due to a number of quantiative (grade, GPA) and qualitative variables. Many, but not all of my students have had academic learning challenges.

Details

My standard pricing is $25-$30 per hour. I cannot help with math, but can work with students on study skills and academic strategies for almost any subject.
