About Laura
I have been a kindergarten teacher for 14 years. I have been tutoring young children along their reading journey for 7 years. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education and a Masters of Science in Teaching Reading, both from Wheelock College. I hold three teaching licenses in Rhode Island including Early Childhood Education (PreK-2), Early Childhood Special Education, and Reading Specialist, as well as two additional licenses in Massachusetts in English as a Second Language (PreK-6) and Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8). Along with these credentials, I have continuously participated in professional development opportunities to stay informed about new practices in the Early Childhood and teaching reading field.
My skills as a teacher coupled with my experiences of leadership in the field through the Early Childhood Department in the Boston Public Schools makes me an ideal candidate. Details
It depends on the level of support the student needs. Ideally tutoring would occur 2/3 times a week for 45 minutes. Along with the actual time spent with the student, time is spent lesson planning and preparing materials as well. A typical rate would be $100 a session. Rates can vary.
