About Kirk
As an Instructor at Nazarbayev University in Kazakhstan, I taught and coordinated the foundation-level Rhetoric and Composition course. I also trained students to become peer writing tutors in the university Writing Center. My specialties include argumentative and analytical essay genres as well as application letters and statements of purpose.
I earned my MA in Folklore and Public Culture from the University of Oregon in the Northwestern US where I also taught first-year college composition courses and Introduction to Folklore Studies. My main academic interests are cultural studies, media & popular culture, and folklore & mythology.

My tutoring sessions are student-focused and highlight writing as a social act. Together, we will address tone, structure, and writing genre conventions to most successfully communicate your ideas and best support your goals as a writer. My sessions are informal, collaborative, and adapted to the specific goals of the client-writer.
Tutoring sessions are one-to-one and last from 1-2 hours according to your preference. I have international experience as a writing and communications instructor at the university level, as well as experience in one-to-one Writing Center tutoring.
